CROWN PERFORMANCE

When a tooth is missing or so damaged that it requires extensive repair, a dental crown is the restoration of choice. Also known as a “cap,”  this type of cosmetic restoration has the longest life expectancy of all others. When cemented in place, a crown completely encapsulates the remaining portion of tooth and fully restores the damaged or missing tooth’s size, shape, function, and appearance. While gold alloy crowns last the longest, porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns have a more natural appearance and are made to match the color of adjacent teeth. All-porcelain or all-ceramic dental crowns provide the best natural color match, while pressed ceramic crowns have a hard inner core that replaces the metal liner used in the all-ceramic crown-making process.

At West Brookfield Dental, we perform a variety of procedures including crowns. We recommend regular checkups, periodic cleanings, and x-rays when needed. We stress preventive dentistry for all members of the family.  Located at 9 West Main St., West Brookfield, we strive to teach you good oral hygiene. In the long run you will have better dental health. Please call 508.867.2777 to schedule an appointment

P.S. Pressed ceramic crowns are capped with porcelain, which provides the best natural color match. They are also more long-lasting than an all-porcelain crown.
